The public water supply in Honduras is not dependable, and it does not supply drinkable water. During the dry months, water is not available through the public system and it is never clean. It was evident in the beginning of the mission that a source of clean water was required.
To that end, God supplied the funds and personnel to drill the well, install water pumps and run the water lines. This well does not supply all the needs of the community, but does give them clean drinking water. The people are lined up early on the days that water is distributed with anything that will hold water. The only other way to get potable water is to purchase it at a store.
Many of the people that take water from our well will travel over 2 miles to get it home.
In 2023 we estimate that we gave out over 312,000 gallons of water through the faucet outside the school. That does not take into account the gallons that we used inside the school and gallons that parents came in the gate to carry out. We are thankful that we can be a big part of the community in this impactful way.
